DashPass is FREE for students for an entire year, and I’m really excited

Together, we can bankrupt DoorDash by never paying for delivery fees again

DoorDash is offering an entire year of free DashPass to students with a verified student status.  The membership program offers various discounts to users. The promotion is available until Oct. 12.

DashPass offers free delivery, lower service fees, and exclusive deals for members, all of which students will get free for one year. DoorDash is also offering five to 10 per cent off of Lyft rides, five per cent back on eligible pickup orders, and 2x PC Optimum points.

Normally, DashPass costs $8 to $9 per month, with annual and monthly plans priced differently.

To me, this deal sounds like a golden opportunity for students to suck a corporation dry through delivered food and drinks.

If the entire 23,000-student population of MacEwan University banded together and tapped into this awesome discount, DoorDash would lose about $2.2 million over the next year from student savings — assuming we all remember to cancel the subscription one year from sign-up.

The deal extends out to other Canadian and American institutions, so if we continue to spread the DashPass gospel, DoorDash won’t know what hit ‘em.

Now, I understand that I am falling victim to this very obvious capitalistic scheme. I know that this is designed to convince students to order more food and ultimately spend more money with their services. However, I don’t care. I order so much food, this is such big news for somebody who lives nowhere near any walking-distance restaurants.

I’d like to add that everyone should continue to tip their delivery drivers. They deserve the world.

Let’s eat, good guys. Let’s get discounted rides home from the bar. Let’s relish in our victory of DoorDash’s successful marketing scheme. Join me.
