A bit about us…

We’re MacEwan University’s student publication. We cover the latest goings-on around the city centre campus, Edmonton’s downtown core, and whatever else matters to MacEwan students. Our team is composed of journalists, writers, and creatives.

We care about supplying MacEwan with honest reporting, quality media, and good vibes.

The Griff has been around since 2011 as a campus newspaper before becoming a magazine in 2015. We currently print seven issues from September to April, excluding December.

Rebecca-lynn Reeves

opinions and culture editor

Hi all! My name is Rebecca-Lynn, and I am your new Opinion and culture editor. Walking around campus, it’s not hard to spot unturned stones and stories within our community. My goal is to engage the creativity and curiosity of our contributors all across campus. I’m happy to be here to help you share your stories with the Griff!

Zach Dafoe

digital content editor

For me, the Griff is an opportunity to be creative with people that make me feel that what I have to say matters. In that spirit, I’d like to become an agent of that feeling for our contributors—particularly those with more off-the-wall ideas in the domains of video and film.

This is YOUR platform. I just work here.

My Olympic sport: wrasslin’ and hasslin’

Leanna Bressan

Online editor

I’m Leanna and this is my second year as the online editor for the Griff. Part of my job is assisting contributors with their online and social media inquiries. I’m excited for more people to see the kick-ass things we’re going to bring to the school this year.

Oh hi! I’m Amanda, the photo editor for this year. To me, the Griff is built by it’s contributors. You folks are the reason the publication is so imaginative, fun, and funky! We are here to support your ideas and boy, are we lucky to have the opportunity to do so.

Forrester Toews

graphics editor

Hello, I’m Forrester, the Griff’s new graphic designer. I like to play bass and collect dorky cards in my spare time. I’m hoping to reach out to students this year, and show them how they can contribute to the Griff.

Raynesh Ram

Research editor

My name is Raynesh and I am the research editor at the Griff. A fun fact about me is that I love to go fishing but I’ve never caught a fish before. To me, the Griff is about informing students about what’s going on around them. But at the same time, it is meant to help students showcase their works, their interests, and their creativity.

My Olympic sport: Synchronized Swimming. I don’t know how to swim but I feel like my body would somehow understand how to swim.

Nour Salhi

Coordinating editor

Salaam, I’m Nour, and I am this year’s coordinating editor! I am an activist, which basically means I like giving politicians a headache until they do the right thing. It just so happens that journalism is the perfect space for that. Otherwise, I am in some faraway land that only exists between the lines of my most recent novel.

My Olympic sport: Yapping!
